It saddens me today as I read and listened to Christopher Wayne’s reasoning as to why he no longer believes in God. Though he still says that there must be a ‘god or ‘intelligent being’. But says that God, our God who created the heavens and the earth, cannot be a loving God if He allows there to be pain and suffering in this world. (You can listen to an interview that he did with Katrina Davidson on 612ABC radio here.)
What Christopher is forgetting here, is that Satan is the ruler of this world. We read in Matthew 4:8-9 (ESV) –
8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.9 And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”
Here Satan shows us that he is the ruler of this world and when speaking to Jesus, offers him all the kingdoms of the world. If God was the ruler of this world, then Satan would have no place and there would be no pain, suffering, etc here.
For those of you who are Christians, hold onto your faith and belief in God. Pray each day the He continues to guide you in all that you do and say.
Ephesians 1:18-19 (ESV)
18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might
But for this of you who aren’t really sure about this Christianity thing or if you do believe that there is a loving and just God. Then I encourage you to either seek out someone who you know that is a Christian and talk to them, ask them your questions. If they don’t have all the answers, then together you can sit down and go through the bible and seek them out. But if you want to do something about it, right here, right now, then all you need to do is to pray to God, ask Him to be a part of your life, ask Him to cleanse you from your sins and make you whole again.
Romans 10:9 (ESV)
9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Ephesians 2:4-5 (ESV)
4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
Grace. That’s it. His free gift. Now it’s up to you, will you accept it?
If you want to know this “relationship” with Him, pray this prayer:
Lord, I confess that I have sinned against You and I ask You to forgive me. I am sorry that my sins have hurt You and other people in my life. I acknowledge that I could never earn salvation by my good works, but I come to You and trust in what Jesus did for me on the cross. I believe that You love me and that Jesus died and rose again so that I can be forgiven and come to know You. I ask You to come into my heart and I want You to be Lord of my life. I trust You with my life and I thank You for loving me so much that I can know You here on earth, and then I can spend the rest of eternity with You in heaven. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
I would love to hear from you if you have prayed the above prayer or if you have committed to living a Christian life. Please let me know how I can support you or go and seek out someone who you already know that is a Christian. Find yourself a local church and get connected with other like minded believers. Talk to God every day about what you think and how you feel. He will listen.
Hopefully, one day, Christopher Wayne will return to his faith in God.
